Hi! Welcome to The Good Egg Project! A place for writers of all levels and genres to hatch new ideas and get words on paper.

I’m Naomi Head, an Edinburgh-based freelance writer, poet and digital media professional.

Thank you for joining our community!

What is The Good Egg Project?

The Good Egg Project community is a pay-what-you-can community for writers by writers.

The project is part of my freelance practice and I’m creating a place for people to write together, meet new friends, and share (and eventually publish) their work.

For me, The Good Egg Project is a way to pay forward the help I’ve received at the start of my writing career in 2019. I also want to provide writers with additional support that I wish I’d had in the early stages of freelancing and writing.

Over the last five years, I’ve learned from so many people at events, in publications, and online, and I’ve found support in so many places. I’m passing my knowledge on because the more we talk to each other and share our knowledge, the more we can change and improve across all writing related disciplines, from poetry and creative writing to journalism and copywriting.

Which is why your support is vital.

The newsletter is currently in development and I’m keen to demystify a few different topics and answer some questions about writing (as a an activity for play and as a profession).

Upcoming questions and topics I want to delve into include: getting your work published, landing performance opportunities, pay transparency, do you need a degree to be a writer, and how to run events or writing groups!

I’ll be looking for contributors and interviewees soon, subscribe to get early access to our open calls.

There’s so much I’m looking forward to doing with this project soon, and I hope you’ll come on this journey with me and our community!
